Legends, Romances and Lullabies brings together music from different eras and sensibilities, united by a shared fascination with melody, character and memory.

James Adler places his own compositions alongside works by Rachmaninoff, Albéniz and Henco Espag, creating a repertoire in which Spanish colour, European romance, rhythmic vitality and lyrical introspection meet naturally. The four Rachmaninoff Preludes reveal the extraordinary range of the Romantic piano tradition, while Adler’s Romance à la française (Ancient Noël) and Lullaby bring that tradition into the present, speaking in a distinctly contemporary voice.

More than a collection of contrasting pieces, the album becomes a musical conversation between inheritance and invention — between the works that have shaped our imagination and the music being written today.
